Gartner Market Guide for In-App Protection

In order to effectively protect applications against tampering, intrusion and malicious data exfiltration, Gartner recommends the use of comprehensive, in-app protection capabilities in its latest Market Guide for In-App Protection.

Formerly the Market Guide for Application Shielding, the report defines in-app protection as: “security solutions implemented within the application (instead of the network or the operating system, for example) to make the application more resistant to attacks.” The report has also been expanded to include a broader set of protection functionalities such as application hardening techniques and risk analysis.

According to the report: “Self-defending applications become crucial as modern architectures migrate software logic to the client side. Security and risk management leaders must take due care in protecting their application clients to avoid turning a promising software design trend into a security failure.”
